Popular Assen Venue Next For Sofuoglu And Krummenacher

Having both won races already in the 2016 FIM Supersport World Championship #kawasakipuccettiracing team-mates #randykrummenacher and #kenansofuoglu will arrive in the Netherlands for round four sitting first and second respectively in the overall points standings.

It has been a great start to the year for class rookie Krummenacher, who has recorded a win, a fourth place and most recently a second place to keep hold of the championship lead he seized at the very first race. Randy will be riding his #kawasaki #ninjazx6r at Assen for the first time in his short #worldssp career this weekend but he has great experience of the classic Dutch circuit from his days in 125cc GP and Moto2 #racing.
Assen is a well-known quantity for WorldSBK legend Sofuoglu. The four-time world champion has won three previous Assen #worldssp races, the most recent for #kawasaki last year, after an epic battle that went down to the wire. Kenan has won 33 #worldssp races in total, making him by far the most successful rider in the class.

Two #kawasaki riders have won #worldssp races at Assen. Kenan was the most recent, last year on his way to the championship title. The first was Iain Macpherson, way back in the first full season of the FIM Supersport World Championship’s existence in 1999.
As a race venue the 4.542km Assen circuit is a challenge to all riders, featuring fast sweeping corners, frequently with banked sections, plus slower hairpins and chicanes. The latter threaten to break up the rhythm of the track but also offer several exciting passing opportunities.
After their first outing at the recent Motorland Aragon round the FIM Europe Supersport Cup (ESS) competitors will return at Assen, running on track with the full #worldssp grid again but only at the European rounds. The race at Assen will take place at 11.20 CET on Sunday 17 April.

Randy Krummenacher stated: “I have prepared well at home so I should be in good shape. I feel I can get closer to the first, to be on top and get closer to it. The race at Motorland Aragon was another good lesson for me. I really can’t wait for Assen because I love the track and it suits me well. I have enjoyed riding there with the Moto2 bike and the 125GP bike in the past. I am really looking forward for a good weekend. To get back on my bike on Friday will be a lot of fun. Assen is a special place and they seem to get a lot of spectators there, so it should be a really nice race, I think.”
Kenan Sofuoglu stated: “After our win at Motorland Aragon last time the bike should work very well at Assen. I was very strong there last year and we won the race. Especially with our new suspension for 2016, I think we can work well at Assen. I am very confident in the bike and team and I have to say thanks to them for all the good work they are doing.”
Series regular riders include eighth placed overall rider Zulfahmi Khairuddin (Orelac #racing VerdNatura Kawasaki) and ninth placed Christian Gamarino (Team GOELEVEN Kawasaki) who is only one point behind Zulfahmi. Ondrej Jezek (Team GOELEVEN Kawasaki) is placed 13th right now.

ESS riders Alessandro Zaccone (San Carlo Team Italia Kawasaki) and his team-mate Axel Bassani had a strong introduction to the #worldssp class at Motorland last time. Zaccone is leading the ESS rankings and is 14th in the overall WSS points. Bassani is second in the ESS rankings and 16th overall. ESS rider, Ilya Mikhalchik (DS Junior Team Kawasaki), has also secured points and is currently 23rdoverall. Regulars Nacho Calero (Orelac #racing VerdNatura Kawasaki) and Lachlan Epis (Response RE #racing Kawasaki) have yet to score points in 2016.
