'Towards a Larger World' presents a selection of relatively new works from the Moderna Museet’s collection

Towards a Larger World presents a selection of relatively new works from the Museum’s collection. A common feature is that they all bridge the gap between languages and continents, and thus reflect the complexity that has come to be increasingly characteristic of our era. Daniel Birnbaum, Museum Director #modernamuseet, and Ann-Sofi Noring, Co-director #modernamuseet, are the curators of the exhibition and present at the press preview to tell us more.

The #modernamuseet collection predominantly represents the Western tradition. Women artists have become more prominent in recent decades, and interest has also expanded geographically, changing the art scene from its very foundations. Towards a Larger World is to be seen as a new course for #modernamuseet. To emphasize this ambition we present each work of art in the seven languages that are predominating in #malm and the region.

- During 2015 we exhibited artists from Lebanon, Argentina and South Africa. With last summer's exhibition After Babel we reached our goal to open up for the many languages of the world, says Daniel Birnbaum.

Ann-Sofi Noring adds: - In the future, the #modernamuseet collection will reflect our global ambition. With Towards a Larger World we clearly see the beginning of this.
