2016 Trophées de L’Argus: the Renault Espace and the Renault Kadjar in the limelight

  • The Renault Espace claimed the 2016 Trophée de L’Argus award in the Family Car class
  • The Renault Kadjar came second in the Compact SUV category
  • The judging panel was comprised of journalists and trade specialists

Two Renault models singled out once again at the annual Trophées de L’Argus ceremony.

After awards for the Clio in 2012, for the Captur in 2013 and for the Twingo in 2014, the Espace and the Kadjar are the latest Renault passenger car models to secure top marks at the annual awards ceremony organised by the French trade newspaper L’Argus.

The Espace came first in the Compact/Family Car class, followed in order by the Jaguar XE, the Audi A4, the Skoda Superb and the Opel Astra. “Our Challenge with Renault Espace was to reinvent traditional codes of the MPV. We also added to it innovation and technologies like 4Control, Multi-Sense and R-Link2,“ said Bruno Ancelin, Product and Programs Director Renault group, during the ceremony.

The judging panel was chaired by Groupe Argus President Alexandrine Breton des Loÿs and comprised journalists, resale value analysists and market research specialists from the group. They singled out the Renault Espace for its originality, technological content and dynamic performance, not to mention its different Multi-Sense modes and 4Control system. Although the resale value of the dCi 160 Intens version (48.50% after three years/45,000km) was lower than that of its two premium rivals, the judges pointed to the Espace’s intrinsic qualities and strengths as a family car.

The Renault Kadjar came second in the compact SUV category behind the Mazda CX3 and ahead of the Honda HRV. The panel was particularly won over by the model’s design, perceived quality and the balance of its overall package.
