Brace of auto trader Best Bike Awards for Honda

Honda’s frugal CB125F and innovative commuter, NC750X, have been awarded Best Bike titles by Auto Trader.

Taking the prize for ‘Best A1’ machine – for riders restricted to 125cc – Honda’s new CB125F was praised for its ease of use and sheer value for money.

Auto Trader editor-in-chief and head judge, Jon Quirk, praised it as the perfect starter bike:

“If you want a user friendly motorcycle to start your career on two wheels, it doesn’t get friendlier than the CB125F.  It’s a really solid package with amazing fuel economy.”

All-new for 2015, the CB125F is the latest evolution of the best-selling CBF125, restyled for a much sharper look, mirroring the upright, streetfighter style of the its CB500F and CB650F siblings.  It also boasts revised fuel injection settings, delivering 145mpg*.  It also comes with a price tag £200 lower than the outgoing model, as Best Bike panel member, Phil West, remarks on:

“It ticks all the boxes.  It’s cheaper than the bike it replaces, which in this day and age, is amazing.”

The NC750X mixes adventure styling and a high riding position with outstanding fuel economy and has been awarded the coveted ‘best commuter’ accolade by Auto Trader for the second year running.  The reason is clear for Jon Quirk:

“Commuter bikes need to prioritise practicality and fuel economy over all else and, at 80 miles per gallon, we’re talking scooter levels of fuel consumption.”

One other selling point of the NC750X that appealed to the judges is the ability to specify the bike with Honda’s unique Dual Clutch Transmission system.  This, effectively, gives the urban rider motorcycle looks with the twist and go practicality of a scooter.

As fellow judge, David Burton, editor of Esses magazine, summarises, “Our cities are so clogged up, this kind of bike really feels like the future for commuters.

Both bikes are available on 3 year finance packages, with the CB125F particularly attractive at £99 deposit and with monthly payments of £77**.  Full details can be found at Honda.co.uk.
