Nothing new. Abstraction still pending. Markus Lüpertz at the Bode-Museum

Markus Lüpertz is a great admirer of the art of past centuries – and besides, he is also quite enthusiastic about the #bodemuseum. During many hours in front of an early 17th century sculpture exhibited there, Ludwig Münstermann's Apollo, he created a great number of drawings. The unique power of expression of this figure has time and again fascinated art enthusiasts and artists alike. #markuslpertz was particularly interested in the fact that this work of art combines thematic classicism with formal expressiveness.
The Bode Museum presents a selection of drawings by #markuslpertz, created up-close with the figure, in addition to a small selection of his bronze sculptures. For the first time since the reopening of the museum in 2006, two of the inner courtyards as well as the Monbijou bridge will be included in the exhibition.
