BOOKCITY MILANO. Experience Milan in the books and in the words of the writers

From 22 to 25 October 2015 , after the extraordinary participation of the public recorded in past editions, anticipated to accompany the end of Expo, it’s back BOOKCITY MILAN, an event dedicated to books and reading and deployed throughout the city, promoted by the Culture of the City of Milan and the organizing committee BookCity composed of Corriere della Sera Foundation, Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Foundation, Arnoldo and Alberto Mondadori Foundation and Umberto and Elisabetta Mauri Foundation, under the auspices of the Center for the Book and Reading, in collaboration with IEA (Italian Publishers Association), with support from AIB (Italian Library Association), ALI (Italian Booksellers Association) and LIM (Independent Bookstores Milan).

It inaugurated on thursday evening with the writer Isabel Allende, who received from the mayor Giuliano Pisapia the seal of the city.

The Festival has a real inclusive philosophy, showing all the shades of the book world from super-pop authors, to the most refined scholars.
This year BookCity hosted, next to many italian italian guests, prestigious foreign guests among which the Nobel laureate Herta Müller, Adrien Bosc, Irene Brežná, Edward Carey, Jeffery Deaver, Amitav Ghosh, Hélène Grémillion, Kristin Harmel, Joanne Harris, Jonas Jonasson, Julie Kagawa, Hape Kerkeling, Mary Kubica, Björn Larsson, Guillaume Long, Fiston Mwanza Mujila, Luis Sepúlveda, Nassim Taleb, Abraham Yehoshua, Kim Young Ha, Theodore Zeldin.

The 2015 edition of BookCity recorded 150.000 participants in a weekend, more than 800 events, more than 1700 guests, 200 locations (in Milan and in its hinterland), 250 publishing houses involved, more than 250 schools, 27000 students and 60 events in the Universities.
