Multi-camera system for industrial trucks and off-road vehicles

Constant operation, reverse maneuvering and moving obstacles increase the pressure and physical strain on a forklift driver. As a result, accidents occur more frequently. Most of these accidents are harmless, like scratches on the wall, goods or vehicle. This consequence is not only annoying, but can also become quite expensive. A far worse consequence than property damage is personal injury.

The sight assist from Bosch is based on the multi-camera system and consists of a control unit and four very compact near-range cameras. It can provide a full 360° view around the forklift, even when it carries bulky freight. This simplifies the task of picking up and moving loads, even in tight spaces, and ensures good visibility at all times as well as greater efficiency and safety in the warehouse and logistics yard.

The sight assist from Bosch monitors the areas in front, behind and each side of the forklift. With a quick glance at the display, the driver can see a realistic representation of his vehicle as a detailed 3D model, so he knows exactly how much space he has to maneuver.

The multi-camera system can visually project the vehicle’s immediate path over the forward, rear, or top view. To achieve this, the control unit measures the steering angle, calculates the resulting route and shows it on the display. The route overlay serves to aid in maneuvering and merging.

The sight assist is based on the multi-camera system already proven in the passenger car segment for easier parking and maneuvering. With this assistance system, Bosch is contributing to a safer and more efficient mobility in the off-road business.
