G-Eazy: The James Dean of hip-hop - American artist was a blockbuster at Roskilde – but is he like the 1950’s star?

Gerald Earl Gillum, better known as #geazy, has been one of the stars of the show at #roskilde so far this year.

The 28-year-old from California brought his stylish dress sense, slicked back hair and slightly rebellious charm to the Arena Stage in Denmark as his fan base continues to rise around the world after hits including Me, Myself & I, I Mean It and Calm Down.

His swagger and style has been compared many times to superstar actor #jamesdean, who starred in films such as East of Eden and Rebel Without A Cause before his death in 1955.

Does he like the comparison? #geazy joked, “I’m a rebel with a cause!

“I have always been an outsider, have always been rebellious and gone against the grain. I have always existed over here on the left in my own space, doing my own thing.

“I haven’t always been understood every time but I am driven and I have always had my vision, and I have stuck to that.”

For now, his attention is firmly on the music scene with a third album ‘The Beautiful and Damned’ out for release later this year but he hasn't ruled out a switch to acting later on in his career.

He said: “I am just a driven individual, I always have been since I was a little kid. I don't like barriers or anything holding me back.

“I have always wanted to transcend music. I have just invested and partnered in a whiskey company, I am trying to express myself in all these different ways.  One day acting or modeling would be cool.”
