Team #suzuki Press Office – May 21.

Arminas Jasikonis – 119 for 9th

Suzuki World #mxgp rider #arminasjasikonis continued his impressive season with another top10 performance on his RMZ450WS at today’s eighth round of the series. After torrential rain on Friday evening, the
Teutschenthal track provided a real challenge for all riders at this #mxgp of Germany and Jasikonis was more than up to the task, working his way through the field to continue his rise up the #mxgp Championship standings.

With Kevin Strijbos missing recovering from his elbow surgery, Jasikonis was the lone #suzuki rider but he didn’t let that pressure faze him as he put in two solid motos. The tall Lithuanian had this to say about the weekend: “The first #moto was quite ok, not a great start but I had a good feeling on the track and that allowed me to come through into ninth place.

Unfortunately, a bike issue meant that I dropped two positions near the end of the race but overall I felt good. In the second #moto, I had a better start on my RMZ450WS and I felt it was within my grasp to battle with the top guys. However, I didn’t ride with enough confidence on this track and I just couldn’t push as much as I should have. I finished ninth but I know I could have been upfront more, so I will keep working to make sure this doesn’t happen again. I want to fight with those guys like I did in Latvia so hopefully I can turn it around for next week in France.”

General Manager Stefan Everts also felt that there was more to come from Jasikonis, but is pleased that the young rider is still pushing and trying to get to the front of this very talented #mxgp field. “AJ showed good speed today, he came from 17th to ninth so his speed was good and he battled hard on this track to make it happen. Passing wasn’t that easy here and it took a few laps so it was impressive that he was able to move forward as well as he did. In the second #moto, he finished ninth but it seemed like a struggle for him, a difficult race, but he’s going to keep on working and after all the great rides he’s put in lately, sometimes you just have a tough one. Still, ninth is a good result for him on this style of track, so we’re going to keep on working and overall, I’m happy with how he performed.
