Stuttgart. Angelique Kerber is unstoppable at the #wtafinals in Singapore. Only one victory separates the #porsche Brand Ambassador from winning the title and therefore crowning her dream season. The semi-final against the Pole Agnieszka Radwanska ended in a comfortable 6-2, 6-1 win to put her in the final at the tournament of the greatest for which the season’s eight most successful players have qualified. Her opponent in the final on Sunday will be the Slovakian Dominika Cibulkova who a little surprisingly downed the Russian Svetlana Kuzentsova 1-6, 7-6, 6-4 in the race to the #tennis crown.

“To be in the final at the end of a fantastic week in Singapore is incredible. I’ll be once again tapping all the strength I’ve still got left in the tank to take the next step on Sunday,” said the world No. 1 who has only lost one set en route to the final. In the match against the title-holder, with whom she is good friends, she started with a break. After also losing her first service game and double faulting on a number of occasions, she however quickly found the form that has made her the outstanding player in Singapore. Though she also occasionally profited from her opponent’s unforced errors, she stayed aggressive all through the match and converted her first match point to secure her ticket to the final after only one hour 14 minutes.

“Despite everything, it wasn’t an easy match. We just know each other too well. However, I was moving well and waited patiently for my chance in the long rallies. It was decisive today,” said #angeliquekerber who will be contesting her eighth final of the season this Sunday. She has won three – at the Australian Open, the US Open and the #porsche #tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart. Dominika Cibulkova was her opponent a week ago in the opening match in Singapore. It was a hard-fought thriller which she eventually won 7-6, 2-6, 6-3. In view of the 18 three-set wins and her upcoming 80th match of the season on Sunday, it shouldn’t be a problem should she have to go the full distance in the final too. “I’ve never been fitter, also after this long, hard season,” she said. “I can run three, four hours without it hurting. I know now that I can also win the really difficult matches.”

Angelique Kerber’s impressive performance at the #wtafinals are exciting not only the spectators in the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The #tennis legends, who are also at the tournament of the greatest to boost the glamour factor, are also excited by her game. “I’m also now a Kerber fan. She’s playing fantastic #tennis and success is not going to her head,” said Chris Evert who won 18 Grand Slam titles and was the world No. 1 for 260 weeks. Monica Seles (nine Grand Slam titles and 178 weeks as No. 1) is convinced: “Angie will win lots more major tournaments.”
