Hanover, 1 July 2016 – The new #crafter from #volkswagencommercialvehicles is being launched this autumn. A first preview is now available of the innovative design of the T series' new 'big brother'. Based on the modern #volkswagen DNA design, the Crafter's style promises functionality, attractiveness and a production quality that is both high-quality and reliable, all the way through to the materials used.
A fundamentally new design approach: the new #crafter is a completely new vehicle. To this end the experts at #volkswagencommercialvehicles asked users and customers about their needs and ideas more intensively than ever before and invited them to help shape the new #crafter based on their visions of how it should be. Specialists from Hannover frequently accompanied drivers going about their everyday routine and asked them right there at their place of work what they wanted.
This is now reflected in both the functions and design: the approach in this regard, according to Albert-Johann Kirzinger, Head of Design at #volkswagencommercialvehicles (VWCV), was thoroughly analytical: "In the commercial vehicle sector especially, design has got to work for lots of different customer groups."
The new Crafter's innovative exterior: at 0.33, the best drag coefficient in its class and an ideal relationship between usable space and dimensions clearly show the benefits of the findings gained from the analyses, which have now been incorporated into the Crafter's wholly new commercial vehicle architecture. Combined with top everyday practicality and optimum cargo space configuration, the new #crafter thus resolves an apparent contradiction. But that is far from all! Based on this aerodynamic basic form, the company has gone on to develop a concept that functions across all derivatives, as Kirzinger says. Later on, the characteristic architecture of the new #crafter will thus remain, he explains, in each of the individual model variants and the #volkswagen DNA will be carried on in the commercial vehicles as well.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles' T series, the 'Bulli', is effectively being given a "big brother" through the introduction of the new #crafter, adds Kirzinger with a twinkle in his eye. With the #crafter a level of surface quality, robustness and at the same time high qualitative value are achieved that has never before been available in this commercial vehicle class.
