‘The Kings of Polo – Piaget brand ambassadors Facundo & Gonzalito Pieres win the Gold Cup at Cowdray’

Congratulations are extended by all at Piaget to an ecstatic King Power Foxes team who are celebrating once again, after winning the 2015 Gold Cup (known as The British Open Polo Championships) at Cowdray Park Polo Club on Sunday 19th July 2015, having also won the Queen’s Cup at Guards Polo Club earlier in the English high goal polo season. Heading up the team are the Piaget brand ambassadors, ten goal Pieres brothers – Facundo and Gonzalito, backed up by the determined young English professional Hugo Lewis and Thailand patron Top Srivaddhanaprabha’s, who named the team after Leicester City Football Club (known as The Foxes) which he jointly owns with his father Vichai. From chukka four of the Final he was substituted after a fall by young pro Kian Hall.

Facing tough opposition from fellow ten goaler Pablo MacDonough and the rest of team UAE (Lucas Monteverde, Jose Ramon Araya and Santiago Stirling), the Pieres brothers fought of the competition to win (King Power Foxes 14 v 8 UAE) and spectators watched them once again lift the Gold Cup together, six years after having previously won the tournament playing alongside each other in 2009 in Jean-Francois Decaux’s La Bamba de Areco team. This was also a third victory for younger brother Facundo Pieres, who won the Cup in 2013 when he played for Lyndon Lea’s – Zacara, ironically the team which King Power Foxes faced in this year’s Gold Cup semi-final. Best Playing Pony was named as Divina, owned and ridden by Pablo MacDonough. The title of Most Valuable Player went to Facundo Pieres, who commented how he was feeling after the game, 'I'm happy - the team played the best in the semi and final. I didn't think we would win both tournaments, it's great to have both - it's very difficult to achieve that - it's amazing.'
