MisuraEmme at Milano Design Week 2015

A mark of craftsmanship for avant-garde solutions

New proposals of sustainable design and engineering

Ever since 1902, MisuraEmme has been a byword for strong lasting values which have led the brand to become a protagonist of Italian design worldwide. It owes the intrinsic quality of its products to top notch design engineering, the functionality of each detail and a careful selection of prime quality materials, with an acute attentiveness to environmental sustainability.

The vast display area occupied by MisuraEmme at the 2015 edition of the Salone del Mobile provides an overview of the firm’s collection which is able to supply total look furnishings for day and night interiors.

A discreet elegance and minimalist style define the new proposals signed by Mauro Lipparini, who continues to pursue his fruitful collaboration with the firm.

Acanto is the new solid wood handle, which is built-in and not just affixed to the furnishing piece, a highly crafted detail which typifies the most salient characteristic of Italian manufacturing. The introduction of this new element has sparked a closet line in wood, which creates an effect of uninterrupted continuity when integrated with the wall panel system.

Sleek, clean-lined aesthetics and functionality: these are the key words for defining Palo Alto, the new complete bedroom project.
The idea springs from a desire to pamper ourselves: elegant, refined, rigorous and faultless, it enables a complete and “transparent” view of the things we love. For this reason, MisuraEmme has gone to town on the lighting system which is particularly lavish and satisfying, the quality of its accessories (holders for watches and jewellery, shoe racks, trouser hangers etc.) and has gone to great pains to select materials that are both light and functional.

This language is most effectively expressed in the maximum transparency of the closet front (created by the new Narciso glass door) and back and by the intermediate wood panels, all of which is achieved by the use of slender vertical and horizontal structures in aluminium which allow for personalized wardrobe and walk-in closet configurations. The engineering quality presents tangible bonds with the minimum flexibility of ergonomic features, comfort and the use of applicable finishes. The dialogue which comes into play between all components of the system is decidedly flexible and adaptable to different forms of aesthetic awareness and imagination.

The Kessler collection has been enhanced by new storage elements of discreet and contemporary elegance. What catches the eye is the lightness of the legs supporting the storage units, the sideboards and the chests of drawers, whose volumetric impact is considerable. The front panels are available in different materials and/or finishes, which represents a further note of aesthetic contrast.

Argo has evolved from the Tao Sit (2002), Gran Sit (2005) and Sit-In (2008) programmes: the platform and the “C” elements originally appearing in the previous systems are being newly presented with a soft surface to confer greater comfort and a more contemporary look.
The pocket armrests in two versions, with a horizontal cushion and with a “C” shaped platform storage element, in wood or a lacquered finish, enhance the extraordinarily vast and versatile compositional performance of this product.

The platform storage elements alternate and may even replace the more conventional hard backrest. The extremely soft cushions of the backrest are self-supporting so that they may come into play on their own or in synergy with the “C” elements used in various combinations with the seating platform.

Argo is a tailor-made system whose compositional variety engages both designer and customer in the creation of the ideal solution for each individual requirement.

Another important theme is the new interpretation of wall panels. The new design concept for the domestic wall contemplates the complete integration of wall panels with furnishing elements, with no further distinction between the two. A complete re-engineering has transformed wall panels into furniture.

Having gone beyond the storage concept, furniture now takes on a new evocative formal expression, also encircled by back-lighting to outline perimeters or areas. Now that storage is no longer their characteristic feature, furnishings can dress up like homes, in the style of the interior itself, to mingle more or less with the spatial architecture.

Wall panels house, integrate and enhance the existing TaoDay, Tao10 and Crossing systems to generate a compositional synergy beyond compare. The simpler 00 (38 mm thick) version has been flanked by a 80 mm thickness to house electrical parts and wiring, which are well concealed yet accessible for inspection, allowing for almost universal installation.

The Night + Day wall system is the most decorative expression the interior design tradition has managed to come up with since renewing its vision of contemporary lines.

Besides, this year, as a result of its collaboration with Florim, a long-established manufacturer of unglazed porcelain tiles, MisuraEmme has extended its range of finishes for wall panels by adding an elegant material with a natural pattern inspired by marble (known as tecnomarble).

Matt and glossy surfaces, textures, wood finishes and stone have at last found a harmonious setting in a compositional language that is well studied and organic.

The Urban system springs from a need to encounter a younger and more metropolitan taste. The bookcase system of horizontal elements, which had already been added to the MisuraEmme collection a few years ago, has now been revisited in an even more modern key, thanks to the introduction of new materials and technical solutions which reinforce the young urban spirit of the product and satisfy the market demand for more affordable solutions.

The installations at the Salone are completed by the iconic furnishings of the MisuraEmme brand comprising: the AR1 bar trolley designed by A.Roth and the Tenso bookcases by W. Laubersheimer belonging to MisuraEmme’s Atelier Collection, the Hella, Naos and Archetto chairs which exemplify the company’s experimentalism; the Florentia and Ermes armchairs with their celebration of softness; the Gramercy collection comprising a table and a set of side tables with a solid wood frame in a stained oak or smoked oak finish and a top in clear grey glass or in wood with a lacquered shaped under-top; the Sushi side tables in various diameters and colours; the Sumo bed which revisits button-down upholstery in a more modern and informal key thanks to the combined use of suede leather and fabric for its cover; finally, the Margareth bed designed by Marelli&Molteni which marries elegance and lightness with the advanced technology of its materials, now being presented with a new type of upholstery in reinforced leather applied to the metal and wood frame, for an overall effect of inked edge cowhide.

MisuraEmme has always been a byword for quality, design and innovation.
The Gran Design Etico award assigned to the company in 2014 celebrates its commitment to researching eco-friendly manufacturing solutions.
In fact, it boasts a revolutionary painting line for the exclusive use of water soluble products, which reduces the environmental impact of lacquered furniture.

An on-going evolution that has distinguished this company for over one hundred years.
