Moonen recently welcomed the 30-metre Amigo back to our facilities for scheduled maintenance. This is the fourth time Amigo has returned for her regular check-up since the refit we completed in 2011 and this latest visit will last around six weeks.
In addition to producing custom yachts to the most exacting specs, Moonen is renowned for its world-class refits, refurbishments and maintenance work on yachts produced both by our yard and other high-profile builders. Designed by Pieter Beeldsnijder, Amigo was originally launched by Heesen Yachts in 2001. The refit we carried out over the winter of 2010-2011 was a success and the owner has shown his appreciation of the quality of our work by returning regularly to Moonen for maintenance activities.
Not many yards have the sheer capacity for such assignments as they require advanced expertise with large yachts and unique hardware – such as Moonen’s crane with a lifting capacity of 150 tonnes. “It is also important for the client that the work be done at a highly regarded Dutch yard, not least to preserve her resale value,” says Moonen’s Service Manager Jan Tielemans. “We can already tell that the work we did last time has held up well. Fortunately, the owner is a real boatman, and sails her a lot throughout the season.”
While Amigo’s last refurbishment at Moonen involved a repaint of the exterior, this time around she will receive simpler regular maintenance work, including checking of the hull and antifouling work. Moonen’s team will also maintain the exterior paintwork above and below the waterline. Amigo will get her CBB certificate as well this year. This will involve verifying her compliance with the latest European requirements for inland vessels, which all yachts above the 20 meters sailing on the rivers and canals in the Netherlands and Europe have to meet by the end of 2018.
Owners and captains of high-quality motoryachts are welcome to contact us today to discuss how our dedicated maintenance team might be of service in the future.
