PS Magazine has elected METZELER Best Brand for the ‘tyre’ category and SPORTEC™ M7 RR as the best supersport tyre for the second consecutive year

A double win for the German tyre manufacturer, which, as in 2016, has been awarded by readers as best brand and winning the supersport tyre comparative organized by the prestigious magazine

Munich (Germany), 11 May 2017- The brand METZELER celebrates, for the second consecutive year, an exciting double victory: as 2016 as elected by the prestigious German magazine PS. Namely, named Best Brand in the tyre category and, at the same time, with the SPORTEC™ M7 RR tyre it has been confirmed as a reference point for the segment, winning the supersport tyre comparative organized by PS Magazine.

Just a few weeks after being elected as Best Tyre Brand for 2017 by Motorrad magazine, METZELER has achieved another important success, this time awarded by the readers  of PS magazine, which elected it with 62.4% of the votes ahead of Pirelli, second, and Michelin, third.

This is another important success in the long line of accolades for the brand signified by the blue elephant. Despite the innovations presented by its competitors in 2017, the SPORTEC™ M7 RR, born in 2014 from METZELER’s experience in road racing activities, keeps confirming itself as the market reference for supersport tyres. It continues to win the comparative tests organized by the most prestigious industry magazines, not least this one organized by PS.

In the 6th issue of the German magazine, for June 2017, SPORTEC™ M7 RR, has been compared with Pirelli DIABLO ROSSO™ III, Continental Sport Attack 3, Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S21, Dunlop SportSmart2 Max and with the promising Power RS launched on the market by Michelin in 2017.

The comparative of the six tyre models was conducted through a test divided into several sessions featuring the utilisation of the tyres both on dry and wet asphalt. The test machine was a Kawasaki ZX-10R running standard 120/70 front and 190/55 rear tyre sizes. The comparative test took place in Spain at the Alcarrás track, for the dry track test, and in Rome- the Technical Centre Europe di Bridgestone of Castel Romano, for the wet testing, in addition to the 4000 kilometres ridden on urban roads and highways in Southern Europe.

The SPORTEC™ M7 RR has proved to be the best supersport tyre on the market, according to the experienced testers of the PS magazine, proving to be the most balanced tyre and the best one in the wet.

The final ranking, with the individual scores on a total of 300 points available, is the following:

1)    METZELER SPORTEC™ M7 RR (283 points)
2)    PIRELLI DIABLO ROSSO™ III (280 points)
3)    MICHELIN Power RS (277 points)
4)    BRIDGESTONE Battlax Hypersport S21 (276 points)
5)    CONTINENTAL Sport Attack 3 (262 points)
5)       DUNLOP SportSmart² (262 points)

Three years after its market launch, the METZELER SPORTEC™ M7 RR is thus confirmed as the undisputed leader of its segment, attesting to the high level of technology applied to the project’s innovation, making it peerless, even for those products more recently developed and launched by the competitors.
