The Abarth partnership with the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team continues

The  #partnership   between #abarth and the Movistar #yamaha #motogp Team is entering its third year: for the next two seasons, #abarth will be Official Sponsor and Official Car Supplier of the #yamaha Factory #racing team competing in the FIM 2017 #motogp World Championship

The renewed #partnership between #abarth and #yamaha is founded on shared values such as the love of sport and fair play, not to mention the determination to excel in motorsports and constantly push back their respective boundaries. After having taken part in the third and final official IRTA pre-season test session in Qatar, Valentino Rossi and Maverik Viñales can't wait for the new season to start. Abarth's scorpion symbol will be with them on the front cowling of their #yamaha YZR-M1 bikes, for all 18 championship races, from the first meeting at Losail (Qatar) on 26 March to the last Grand Prix, scheduled for Valencia (Spain) on 12 November.

The continual striving for the best performance reaches beyond the sport itself and off the circuit, into the thrilling cars derived from the #partnership between the two brands.
We are talking about the #abarth 595 #yamaha Factory #racing Edition, developed by increasing the engine power from 140 to 160 HP and featuring the unmistakable racing-car roar, and the even more powerful #abarth 695 Biposto #yamaha Factory #racing Edition, with a 190 HP engine and the special blue and white paintwork.

#abarth and Yamaha's association is also behind the #yamaha XSR 900 #abarth. This lightweight but high-performing café racer is the first motorbike originated by the two brands' #partnership within Yamaha's Faster Son programme. The bike has the same sporty grey livery with red trims as the #abarth 695 XSR #yamaha, the Scorpion brand's new car built in a numbered limited edition.
Of the model, 695 cars will be produced in sedan and 695 in convertible versions, with widespread use of carbon fibre components underlining the affinity with the motorbike's fairing, front mudguard and seat cover, together with bodywork colours and trims in pure #yamaha style. The #abarth 695 XSR #yamaha and the motorbike are both also equipped with an ultra-lightweight Akrapovič exhaust, a racing-derived component that boosts their personality, sound and performance. The 695 is completed by the XSR logo on the tailgate.

Paolo Gagliardo - Head Operations, Abarth
"We are proud that the #partnership between #abarth and the Movistar #yamaha Moto GP Team is continuing for the next two years. This key alliance for us has a meaning that goes beyond the common concepts of competitiveness and support. #abarth and #yamaha share many values in motorsports and have a common enthusiasm for sophisticated mechanics and quality excellence.
For #abarth and #yamaha, races are important to gain experience to be transferred to standard production. A team of dedicated and well-trained men and women who can solve problems quickly is needed to win. The successes of Movistar #yamaha Moto GP over the years confirm that this is the right team, also thanks to the riders: the many-times world champion Valentino Rossi, who is as tough as ever, and his young team mate Maverick Viñales, from whom we expect a great #racing season."

Lin Jarvis - Managing Director, #yamaha Motor Racing
"The relationship between #abarth and #yamaha is deep and full of respect. Much like #yamaha, #abarth has a long history and an incredible heritage in #racing and we are proud that we were able to create an overlap by building on our relationship, first with the Fiat Group, and later with the FCA Group, since 2007. The strong #partnership has not only been expressed by the creation of the #abarth 595 #yamaha Factory #racing Edition and the 695 Biposto #yamaha Factory #racing Edition and other collaborations between #yamaha and #abarth, but also on the track. #abarth has been featured on our YZR-M1 since 2015 and we are very happy that the #partnership will continue. Their values of innovation, performance and passion for motorsport closely resemble ours at #yamaha and the powerful Scorpion logo on the front of our bike symbolizes how we intend to "attack" the new season as we fight for the #motogp World Championship Title again this year."
