METZELER is the Official Sponsor of the 2016 FIM International Six Days of Enduro
From October 11th to 16th the Circuito de Navarra in Spain will host the 91st edition of the World’s most popular Enduro race, with METZELER tyres as the reference tyre in this field
Munich (Germany), 6 October 2016 – Tyre manufacturer METZELER is now the Official Sponsor of the FIM International Six Days of Enduro (ISDE) to be held from October 11th to 16th for the first time at Circuito de Navarra, in Spain.
The Six Days of Enduro saw its debut in the Official FIM Calendar in 1913 in Carlisle, Great Britain: the 2016 version will be the 91st edition of the competition that awards the title of ISDE Champion to National teams.
Spain hosts the ISDE for the fourth time in its history: the debut on Iberian soil took place in 1970 at El Escorial, near Madrid, followed in 1985 at La Molina, on the Catalan Pyrenees, and the 2000 edition in the city of Granada. The Navarra region hosts for the first time the “Enduro Olympics”, which will take place in the town of Los Arcos, within’ the modern Circuito de Navarra, about 60 kilometres from the capital Pamplona, in a mainly flat area.
Numbers of the 2016 Edition
Over thirty countries will be represented by around 650 riders who have entered the 2016 FIM International Six Days of Enduro. As supplier to the best FIM Enduro World Championship teams, METZELER will support 2016 World Champions Giacomo Redondi, Eero Remes and Steve Holcombe, World Championship winners respectively in Junior, E1 and E3 classes, plus many other top riders who already use the Blue Elephant house’s products in the most important world competitions, such as Manuel Monni and Robert Taylor.
The competition will take place starting from the Circuito de Navarra to touch some of the most scenic locations of this Spanish region. In the first two days riders will twice face a 300 km route, followed by two laps of 280 km each in the third and fourth race days, to end with a 195 km circuit of the fifth one.
METZELER experience in the Enduro field
METZELER has a strengthened experience in International Enduro Competitions which has lasted since 1935: first with a series of successes in the German Championship, then with the participation in the European Championship and finally with several wins in the International Six Days Extreme of Enduro.
In the 90’s METZELER took part in several World Enduro Championships, winning twelve titles between 1990 and 1997 with famous riders such as Paul Edmondson, Giovanni Sala, Mario Rinaldi and Fabio Farioli. In recent years, with the introduction of the innovative tyre MCE 6 DAYS EXTREME, a product which has become the reference tyre in Enduro competitions, METZELER has conquered twenty-nine world titles in the FIM Enduro World Championship.
