TAKE THE ROAD: the short film created by METZELER is going to the Motorcycle Film Festival in New York
From Milan to the Big Apple via Wheels and Waves: a tyre, three photographers and a special motorcycle are among the protagonists
New York (USA), 14 September 2016 – A trip that lasted a year, which had no fear of sudden climate changes: from its debut at Deus Ex Machina store in Milan, across the official launch at Breuberg, in Germany, until the experience of Wheels and Waves, painted by three photographers-guests until the arrival in New York.
The history of ROADTEC™01, the latest sport touring tyre branded METZELER, is the protagonist of the short film that will be presented at Motorcycle Film Festival in Brooklyn, which will run until September, 17th. It marks the end of the TAKE THE ROAD™ with ROADTEC™01 campaign, the initiative organized by the German-founded tyre manufacturer to celebrate this product, which was able to win the comparative tests promoted by both newspapers Motorcycle News in Great Britain and Motorrad in Germany and considered “the best sport touring tyre” by the prestigious German magazine.
The movie, which lasts 10 minutes, is the adventure of a special bike, the Project X, created by Deus Ex Machina and based on a Yamaha XJR1300 enriched by Aryk Old Paint artist, who painted the tank. The bike, equipped with METZELER ROADTEC™01, is the protagonist of this journey which is narrated from the lens of the three photographers, who wanted to spread the typical emotions of a challenge using the famous Leica cameras. It is a journey made from the heart of Milan to Wheels and Waves event in Biarritz, along a 1,400 kilometers trail made with METZELER tyres through sun, rain, wind and fog. The beautiful photographs taken along the journey will create a photo book whose presentation is scheduled during next autumn.
In this short film there is everything: the various forms of art, as decorations and photography, up to drawings, for example on the tread pattern, which are portrayed by photographers through different shots and places which have become a symbol of this adventure. These different styles are able to create a complementary work which tells a use of METZELER ROADTEC™01 from an unconventional point of view, unpublished and created with the aim of narrating both emotions and feelings experienced during the journey, while looking for intense fieldworks.
METZELER ROADTEC™01 represents an innovative product, designed specifically for motorcyclists who love any kind of short and long travel, and who are not afraid to use their own bike even when the weather conditions are not favourable. Invited to get on and start their own trip, with the guarantee that the journey will become an exciting new life experience, marked by the passion for engines and hundreds of kilometers, just as narrated into this short film.
The movie will be screened in its world premiere at Motorcycle Film Festival in New York, crowning a project which lasted a year. It will then be exclusively available at Deus Leica Theatre in 3, Thaon di Revel street in Milan during the initiative TAKE THE ROADTM – 48 Hours of Movies branded METZELER from November 8th to 10th, during which will be aired for the Italian audience all the leading films of this Motorcycle Film Festival edition.
