VOLKSWAGEN ANDRETTI RALLYCROSS TEAM PICKS UP VALUABLE POINTS AT DALLAS GRC ROUND

VOLKSWAGEN ANDRETTI RALLYCROSS TEAM PICKS UP VALUABLE POINTS AT #dallas GRC ROUND
Tanner Foust and #scottspeed finish third and fourth, despite having the fastest cars with their Beetle GRCs
Herndon, #va#volkswagen Andretti Rallycross picked up its fifth podium of the year at the #dallas round of the 2016 Red Bull Global Rallycross championship, earning valuable championship points for drivers #tannerfoust and #scottspeed.
After leading every session throughout the weekend, the pair of drivers ran into trouble on the first lap and they were shuffled back into the field. Although faster than their competitors, the tight #dallas course offered few passing opportunities, and Foust had to settle for a third-place finish, with teammate Speed following close behind in fourth.
“It’s unfortunate,” said Foust on the podium, “We had the perfect season until the Final, and weren’t able to close it out.” The driver of the No. 34 Rockstar Energy Drink Beetle GRC still walked away from the #dallas #event with a good haul of championship points. His third-place finish—along with Heat and Semifinal wins—provisionally netted the two-time series champion 55 points, maintaining his lead in the standings.
VARX teammate #scottspeed followed Foust home to a fourth-place finish, after being caught up in the same first-lap kerfuffle as Foust. Although the reigning series champion endured a more difficult weekend than his teammate, battling mechanical gremlins on Friday, Speed still managed to win his Heat and Semifinal races. He started the final alongside Foust and got stuck in behind his teammate on the narrow track on Lap 1, allowing the eventual first- and second-place finishers to squeeze through.

“It’s kind of a shame to end our race that way,” said Speed after the finish. “Our car is really fast like we proved all weekend, and it’s too bad that we didn’t get a result that reflects that speed.”
After almost two complete race meetings running at the front of the pack, Foust enjoyed the competitive Final in #dallas. “I had a great battle with [second-place finisher] Steve Arpin, and it was awesome to race it out,” said Foust with a smile after the checkered flag. “The weekend we had in Phoenix and here might look like smooth sailing from the outside, but the team’s working so hard getting our qualifying on point and winning the Heat races. Everyone’s working really well together and we can’t wait to take another shot at the win in Daytona.”
