Burberry announces new key appointments to its leadership team

Burberry announces Leanne Wood will take on the newly created role of Chief People and #corporate Affairs Officer from November, reporting to #burberry Chief Creative and Chief Executive Officer Christopher Bailey. Leanne will be responsible for #corporate Affairs and Human Resources globally.

Leanne joins #burberry from Diageo, a FTSE 20 company, where she has been Group HR Director since 2013. Prior to this role, Leanne was the company’s Global Talent and Organisation Effectiveness Director and had been HR Director for Diageo’s businesses in a number of markets, including South East Asia, Great Britain, Ireland and Africa. Leanne has also worked for Allied Domecq in strategy and finance, and LEK Strategy Consulting.

Christopher Bailey said: 
“As Chief People and #corporate Affairs Officer, Leanne has a global remit with great strategic importance across our business, brand and culture. I am confident that her incredibly strong and diverse background, coupled with her great strategic vision and inspiring leadership and people skills, will prove to be an amazing asset to #burberry.”

Burberry also announced that Fumbi Chima will be joining in November as Chief Information Officer, reporting to Chief Operating Officer, John Smith. The role oversees Burberry’s technology division that is central to the company’s strategic development As part of her role, Fumbi will oversee the forthcoming technology platform upgrades including SAP.

Fumbi joins #burberry from Walmart Asia where she was #corporate VP & CIO for Walmart Asia and was responsible for aligning their e-commerce strategies with technologies solutions in the region. She has extensive experience in the technology arena having held IT and technology positions at AMEX and JP Morgan.

Fumbi was also recently selected as a member of the United Nations Digital taskforce, working to address the digital economy in Asia. She serves on the board of the World Affairs Council and is a member of the International Women’s Forum and the Executive Leadership Council (ELC).

Christopher Bailey added “The combination of Fumbi’s IT and digital expertise, together with her great dynamism and strong leadership skills, will be a fantastic benefit to our team and business.”
